MAY  FROM THE ASHES OF THE EATON FIRE

Fahey-Klein Gallery Los Angeles notified me that a collector's edition print of Midtown Exit, 1991 New York Ed. No. 21/25, was destroyed in The Eaton Fire of January 2025.  An 24" edition print of Midtown Exit, whose edition of 25 is nearly sold out, is now valued at $9,000.  I produced a new print to replace the lost one at a nominal fee, and signed it No. 21/25.

Midtown Exit was originally created for Rolling Stone Magazine in 1991 for the year-end issue, wrapping up the year in music, movies, and television.  This was the last image I created for the series, a general 'good bye' metaphor.  Years before I used Photoshop, I created this image by what is now known as traditional photography- with film and printing in the darkroom.

MARCH  REFLECTING ON THE GREAT REDUCTION

In March 2022 I was forced to retire from assignment photography for medical reasons.  Closing my studio of almost 45 years I was faced with the problem of not being able to keep everything from my long career.  My archive of original work prints, portfolios, and negatives filled a 40'x15' room shelved 14' high.  It was time to edit and reduce.  After two months of choosing what to save and what to discard, I had filled to the brim (11) dumpsters with prints and portfolios-roughly three quarters of all my work.

The saved archive has been moved to a climate controlled storage room where items can be easily accessed.  I continue to make limited edition prints with my edition printers in Dallas and Los Angeles.
